I was so honored to be included in this international exhibition in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Mass MoCA was again host to Wilco's three day music and art festival and I had the privilege of being a participating artist. I brought my Airstream studio to the festival and provided an interactive art experience. The event was a joyfest. Together we celebrated the happiness shared in the midst of inspiring art. Everyone tried on masks, built forts and took at peak into my little textile world. It really was the best ever.
When I was a child, my grandmother taught me how to sharpen crayons onto wax paper and melt the wax with an iron. This year I have revisiting this technique with young artists. I recently experimented with another medium to make a more durable product. By melting crayons onto clear vinyl, I have been able to make this resilient, vibrant, new textile. The process is super fun and great to share with kids. We have been adhering the vinyl & wax textile onto dowel rod triangles with velcro corners to construct mini suncatcher forts.
